In Ukraine, Nutella® for breakfast is a tasty addition to the main dish. People often spread it on blintzes, syrnyky and oladky (small thick pancakes). They also spread it onto a slice of bread or cookies and serve them with tea or coffee. The preference of beverage largely depends on the region. For instance, tea for breakfast is more often drunk in Kyiv, while coffee is the first choice in Lviv. By the way, there are two dishes in Lviv and Kyiv which have the same name but are completely different. In Lviv, syrnyk with Nutella® is actually cheesecake, whereas in Kyiv, it is a small pan-fried quark cake. Fresh fruits and freshly-squeezed juices are rarely found on the Ukrainian traditional breakfast menu.
