The vanillin in Nutella®
A flavour identical to the one naturally present in the vanilla pod
In Nutella®, we use synthetic vanillin, an aroma identical to the one naturally present in the vanilla pod. The production of vanilla pods is not enough to meet the escalating global demand. That's why the food sector also uses vanillin obtained by synthesis.
The final touch
We operate a high-precision, automated dosing system. A 400g Nutella® jar contains 0.08g of vanillin: a very little amount, but enough to heighten and stabilize the flavour and fragrance of Nutella®. Its unique aroma complements the flavours of the other ingredients in the formula and adds the finishing touch to the recipe, which gurantees the original taste of Nutella®.
