Boghasha with Nutella®

INGREDIENTS for6-8 persons

  • 1 cup all purpose flour (125g)

  • Pinch of salt (1g)

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 tablespoon butter (20g)

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 tablespoon sugar (12g)

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2 cups sunflower oil for frying

  • 100g Nutella®

To prepare this delicious recipe, 15g of Nutella® per person is enough to enjoy!

METHOD

  1. Use handheld mixer to mix flour, salt and baking powder with the butter. Add eggs, sugar and vanilla and blend into a light batter. You will need to add some water if the batter is too dry.

  2. Use your hand to form the dough into one large ball. Then divide the dough into 5 equal smaller balls. Cover it and let it rest for an hour.

  3. Roll out two of the dough balls on a dusted surface into same size ovals, then place one over the other. Roll out the rest of the balls and place the dough over each other. Use the roller once to flatten the dough together. Use a knife to cut long 1cm strips then horizontally cut into 3 cm fingers.

  4. Heat oil in a deep saucepan over medium heat until slightly bubbling, then reduce heat to medium-low. Place the dough fingers in the oil without overcrowding the pan, and watch them puff up and turn golden in bout two minutes. Make sure to turn them occasionally. Transfer Boghasha to a plate with kitchen paper to drain the excess oil. Repeat until all fingers are ready.

  5. Let them cool for a few minutes then place in a large serving bowl and drizzle with Nutella® .
