WHAT IS NEEDED
For this scarf, you’ll only need to know how to knit stocking stitches.
Odd rows are knitted right side up.
Even rows are knitted purl.
METHOD
- Step 1
Start by casting on 15 stitches with the white yarn and knit to the 4th row.
Change colors and knit from the 5th row with the red yarn. - Step 2
To make the heart decoration at each end of the scarf you’ll need to switch color mid-row, so you’ll have to count stitches carefully.
Start with the 7th row: knit the first 7 stitches with the red yarn, then insert the white yarn and knit the 8th stitch in white.
Pick up the red yarn and finish knitting the row.For each following row of the heart design, follow the chart to know when to switch from red to white and back.
Remember: follow the red yarn to the back of the pattern, so you’ll be able to pick it up later. Once the heart is finished, knit the next two rows in red.
- Step 3
Knit two more rows (16 and 17) with the white yarn, then knit up to row 48 (about 15/16 cm) with the red yarn. In row 49, fold in all the stitches.
You’re done with the first half! To make the second half, follow the same steps.
Finish up by stitching the two halves together (on the red side).
Conceal the remaining yarns between the knitted stitches with a needle.
- Step 4
You can decorate your mini scarf by adding little tassels.
To make one, wrap the red yarn around two fingers until it creates a small skein.
Then, pass another yarn through the center, between your fingers, and tie a tight knot. - Step 5
Cut the yarns that stick out from the tassel to match its size.
Knit the tassels to the edges of the scarf.
