Holiday pancake stacks with Nutella hazelnut spread

With this sweet recipe you simply can’t go wrong! So why not put together a holiday-themed version to sweeten up your December mornings? Learn how to bake a big batch of pancakes and shape them into adorable trees. And then, dress them up with some delicious Nutella® hazelnut spread—of course!

  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil, divided into two tbsp each (approx.)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup Nutella® hazelnut spread
  • Currants, raspberries or red holiday candies
  • Confectioners’ sugar

  • In a large bowl, whisk together milk, eggs and 2 tbsp vegetable oil.
  • Step 2

  • Mix flour, sugar, baking powder and salt; whisk into milk mixture until combined.
  • Heat large non stick skillet, set over medium heat; brush with remaining vegetable oil.
  • Arrange 5 greased cookie cutters of different sizes (1 1/2 inch to 4 inch) in skillet, spacing about 1 inch apart.

  • Pour enough batter into cookie cutters to come about 1/4 inch up the side; cook, in 4 batches, for about 2 minutes or until bubbles form on surface.
  • Carefully remove cookie cutters with tongs. Flip pancakes; cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until bottom is golden brown. Wipe skillet between batches and brush with more oil as needed.

  • Spread pancakes with Nutella® hazelnut spread; layer pancakes, from largest to smallest, to make 4 “Christmas trees.”
  • Decorate each layer with currants or holiday candies.


  • Tips:

  • Substitute dried cranberries for currants, if desired.
  • For snowy trees, dust with confectioners’ sugar.
