Christmas Gluten-Free Orange Cake by Nutella®

INGREDIENTS FOR 10 SERVINGS

  • 4 fresh oranges

  • 110 g orange juice

  • 60 g sunflower oil

  • 110 g gluten-free flour

  • 8 eggs

  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder

  • 1/3 tsp. fine salt

  • 150 g fine sugar

  • 1 tbsp. of Nutella® per serving

How to make Christmas Gluten-Free Orange Cake

  1. Gluten-free orange sponge cake topped with Nutella in festive setting.

    Preheat the oven to 150°C. Separate seven eggs into two bowls, leaving one egg to the side. In one bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff , then add in baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix again until stiff , then place it in the fridge to rest and keep the texture consistent.

    Add the whole egg into the bowl containing the egg yolks. Grate the orange zest, add to the bowl, then add the juice and oil. Whisk until smooth. Sift in the flour and whisk again.

    Take the egg white mix out of the fridge and gradually add it to the yolk mixture. Gently fold it in with your spatula.

    Pour the mixture into a cake tin and bake for 1 hour and 50 minutes. Place an oven-safe bowl filled with water into the oven during the baking process.

    Once baked and cooled, cut the cake in half and spread Nutella® on the bottom half.

    Place on the top layer and decorate the top of the cake with Nutella®. Add some fresh orange pieces for an extra flavour kick. Enjoy!
