Revamped look, same delicious taste!

Our unmistakable Nutella® recipe is the same worldwide. It is made with 7 quality ingredients and contains no preservatives, colourings, or hydrogenated fats. This is guaranteed by our internal quality policy as well as verified by SGS.

100% RSPO certified sustainable palm oil and committed to no deforestation.

100% of the cocoa volume we source for Nutella® will come from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ or UTZ certified farms by the end of 2020.

The timeless spirit and values of Nutella®

For generations, Nutella® has always been driven by a spirit of passion, quality and care for its ingredients. Today, this same spirit is embodied through a refreshed label featured on our iconic Nutella® jars.

From the Supercrema, the ancestor of Nutella, to now, our jar holds exactly the same mission: we preserve the unmistakable taste of our signature recipe so you can enjoy delightful moments with your loved ones.

Let's take a closer look!

Our Palm Oil

100% RSPO certified sustainable palm oil and committed to no deforestation

The palm oil in Nutella® comes from a certified "segregated" supply chain. It is sourced from different certified plantations and is kept separated from ordinary palm oil throughout the entire supply chain. Through this system, 100% of our palm oil can be traced back to the mills, guaranteeing that it does not come from plantations subject to deforestation.

Our cocoa

100% of the cocoa volume we source for Nutella® will come from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ or UTZ certified farms by the end of 2020

By sourcing cocoa from Rainforest Alliance Certifed™ and UTZ certified farms, we help improve the livelihoods of farmers and their families, conserve natural resources and biodiversity. Certified farms have to follow strict criteria to help ensure environmental, social and economic sustainability.
Certification and traceability are the starting point of Ferrero's sustainability approach, but we also go beyond certification to increase our impact on the ground.

"Our quality" verification program

Quality is as important to us as it is to you, and that's why we guarantee high-quality standards for every factory in the world that produces Nutella®. Some of these standards are also verified by SGS, the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. As an independent service provider, SGS verifies that our Nutella® spread and all its ingredients match the requirement of “Our quality" verification program.

How does the SGS verification program work?

The quality standards are independently verified by SGS according to a program based on 4 pillars:

QUALITY STANDARDS DEFINITION

At this stage, SGS and Ferrero define reference documents, representing the quality standards against which the verification program is carried out.

AUDIT

SGS auditors carry out annual verification activities, both at Ferrero Headquarters and within each factory producing Nutella® around the world. These audits, both announced and unannounced, verify that the control plan defined by Ferrero for each stage of production - from incoming raw ingredients to finished product - is being met.

TESTING

In addition to the audit activities, SGS carries out regular analysis - performed at independent laboratories - on raw ingredients and finished product sampled in each plant producing Nutella®.

MARKET MONITORING

Finally, SGS plans occasional and random sampling of products taken from the points of sale for testing and label reviews.

About SGS

SGS was established in 1878 and registered in Geneva as Société Générale de Surveillance in 1919. Today, with a network of offices and laboratories around the world, SGS is recognised as the worldwide benchmark for quality and integrity.

The materials used to make the Nutella® jar

The Nutella® jar is made of diverse materials. Let's take a look at each of them so it will be easier for you to recycle them properly, according to your local recycling collection guidelines. On some Nutella® labels, you may notice icons representing each of the materials used. If your jar doesn’t display these icons, don’t worry, not all packaging has enough space to display them but all the information is available online!
