Rye bread

Farmhouse bread (Bauernbrot) is a compact German-style bread, a large loaf with a dark crust and dense crumb it is good enjoyed with strongly flavoured cheeses.

With more than 300 different kinds of bread Germany is a country with a globally-renowned bread culture. Germans just love eating rolls and bread made with lots of different grains: whether rye, wheat or spelt. German bread isn't only a side dish but a fully-fledged part of the menu. That explains why Germans also have their very own "Bread Day" every year on May, 5th.
