Fluffy mini cakes with Nutella hazelnut spread

A delicious no-butter recipe, a sprinkling of powdered sugar, and Nutella® hazelnut spread. Of course! Are you ready to give your eyes and taste buds a treat?

  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose sifted flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp plus 1 tsp sunflower oil
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Confectioners’ sugar to decorate
  • 1/3 cup Nutella® hazelnut spread

  • Preheat oven to 350°F
  • In a bowl, whisk egg, add with granulated sugar gradually until light and fluffy

  • Combine the oil and water and add to the egg mixture, then whisk.

  • Sift flour and baking powder together into the mixture, and stir briefly.

  • Spray muffin pan lightly with cooking spray to prevent the batter from sticking. Fill each muffin cup halfway with batter and bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove pan from oven and allow to cool down slightly. Then, turn the pan over onto a wire rack and allow the mini cakes to cool completely.

  • Fill a pastry bag with Nutella® hazelnut spread.
  • Slice the cakes horizontally into halves.
  • Squeeze ¾ tbsp of Nutella® hazelnut spread onto one half of each mini cake, then put the two layers back together again.

  • Make paper stencils roughly the size of one mini cake in a shape you like.
  • Place a stencil on top of each cake and sprinkle a thin layer of confectioners’ sugar.
